BIOGRAPHY

​

Seb Michel is a Swiss photographer born in 1976. 

 

Seb Michel was introduced early on to the world of photography. After spending his teenage years experimenting with his first film camera - a Nikon FM2, a gift from his father at the age of 12, seb discovered the high potential to communicate with through this medium. 

 

A few years later, Seb starts a photography apprenticeship in a photo studio in Geneva with the photographers Thierry Bourdeille, Jean-Paull Cattin and Jean-Daniel Meyer, and started CEPV, Photography School in Vevey as a dual training, Upon graduating, he joins LE STUDIO PRODUCTION in Geneva where he earns his stripes as a young fashion and advertising photographer. After a decade of collaborations with global agencies, magazines, he felt compelled to actualize projects that were more personal and intimate.

From 2012, he works in his own studio in Lausanne.

​

His interest to develop a personal art work becomes stronger and he started to create personal series, characterized by a minimalist approach, questioning human relationships and interactions between man and nature through meticulously constructed, staged images. Seb uses photography as his final medium, while incorporating a part of a plastic artist in his working process, considering the realization process itself as an important part of the work. One can perceive in his works the pursuit of a unique aesthetic and a constant quest for beauty and meaning.
